Biographical Data:
I hail from Salt Lake City, Utah, where I did most of my growing up and eventually graduated from Brigham Young University just a few miles south in Provo. My undergraduate degree is in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in Biomedical Engineering. I am currently rotating through MTEL and working on a project to design a parallel-plate bioreactor as a friendly habitaion for our hepatocytes. The project specifically examines the potential use of a controlled oxygen gradient to induce hepatocyte zonation, a condition that exists in vivo. My long-term research interests include tissue engineering and its clinical applications. My wife, Kathy, and daughter, Sydney, have joined me for this adventure in La Jolla.
