Biographical Data:
Originally from Taiwan, Paul moved to the States in time to start Kindergarden. After graduating from Monta Vista High School, which sends droves of students to UCSD, he decided sunny La Jolla was the place to go.
He is currently part of Revelle College and is involved in many clubs, including being Chair of the Revelle Activities Yearbook (the first year of its existence), Co-Chair of Revellations, the Revelle College Newsletter, Cheif Financial Officer (he gets to play with money!) of Alpha Epsilon Delta, member of the Flying Hellfish Paintball Club, and many others. He likes reading, being intellectually stiumulated and is glad to be taking the Revelle Humanities sequence (except for the harsh grading) where he gets to read such classics as Dante's Inferno, the Decameron, and Perrault's Fairy Tales. He wishes he had more time to read.
Paul is also interested in computers. He recently won first place in the Sports/Health Category in a global web design contest called ThinkQuest for collaborating to produce the site titled Hidden Killers: Deadly Viruses. Yes, he also has fond interests of viruses.
Yet, research is never far from his mind. He started his experience in high school by ditching every Monday to drive to the NASA Aimes Research Center where he helped develop a regenerative life support system. This past summer, he had the joy of being accepted into the Life Science Consortium program where he did genetic research at the Penn State College of Medicine. It was wonderful living on the east coast for the first time and working with zebrafish. He'll never feel the same eating a fish again.
Currently, Paul's been assigned to maintain Dr. Bhatia's website and to work on stellite cells. He believes what makes lab work enjoyable is the people, and he's glad he's been lucky enough to be around good people.
